PRERNA-Asia's largest festival celebrating differently-abled individuals returns for its 19th edition with renewed enthusiasm and a commitment to creating opportunities. Since its inception in 2006, PRERNA has been dedicated to drawing inspiration from the differently-abled community and providing a prominent platform for showcasing their exceptional talents and skills.

Every year, Prerna witnesses more than 4000 differently abled participants in more than 40 DA events. This year, PRERNA received patronage from UNESCO for the sixth time.

Murlikant Petkar

In 1972, Murlikant Petkar won India its first-ever Paralympic gold medal in Heidelberg, Germany, for the 50 m freestyle swimming.

Back then, he had set a world record of blazing across the waters in an impressive 37.33 seconds.His career began in the Boys Battalion of the Indian Army, which saw him rise through the ranks to reach the war grounds of Pakistan in 1965.

Stephen Hawking
