By the noble initiative of four young girls, to serve society, PRERNA came into existence. With every step taken, Prerna commenced at the district level in the year 2006, at the Faculty of Technology and Engineering, MSU Baroda. The year 2008 was the foundation year for the core visitor events, in which visitors got a chance to interact with visually impaired participants for the first time.

With a new organising team, renewed energy and enthusiasm of volunteers, PRERNA became a state-level event in the year 2009. One of the unique and eye-catching events, the BLIND CRICKET TOURNAMENT, was introduced in PRERNA for the first time in the year 2010.

PRERNA, an inspiration for many, became the only social event organised by engineering students at the National level in the whole of INDIA. In the year 2011, Gujarat witnessed for the first time the Disabled Cricket Tournament and a live performance by Mumbai-based blind band, UDAAN.

In the year of 2012, PRERNA got its new official logo and organised a live performance by Delhi-based National Award Winner group, ABILITY UNLIMITED. PRERNA-THE EMANCIPATION is like a Banyan Tree which now not only shelters the differently-abled people but also the ones who are often neglected by a large section of society, the OLD AGED people.

In 2013, PRERNA witnessed a splendid performance of our National Anthem by 604 deaf and mute in their sign language hence putting forward an example of 'Silent Synchronisation',

PRERNA'14 took a huge leap forward by organising an exhibition match of BLIND FOOTBALL for the first time in the history of Gujarat that quite literally left the spectators awestruck.

PRERNA takes a step further and spreads its arms wide open as we welcome ORPHANS into our family with love and respect and utmost joy.

In 2018, PRERNA received Young Contributor Award at YOUNG CONTRIBUTOR SUMMIT for its never-ending efforts for the betterment of Society & Community.

PRERNA’19 witnessed an inimitable version of ALFAAZ by the name of ALFAAZ UNPLUGGED and was poised with glamour and grace with a differently-abled Fashion Show, AAHVAN.

Despite the challenges posed by COVID-19 pandemic,PRERNA’20 and PRERNA’21 persevered and were successfully organized in an online format. However, with the end of pandemic, PRERNA’22 made a triumphant return, brimming with renewed energy and excitement. PRERNA has also received patronage from UNESCO for unprecedented five incredible times for the years 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2022.

PRERNA has also received appreciation letters from the Government of Gujarat, and Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, as well as THESPA, Ahmedabad's association for physically challenged people. PRERNA has also been recognised by the INDIAN PARALYMPIC COMMITTEE. Despite the difficulties brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, PRERNA - The Emancipation made every effort to encourage those who are differently abled and held PRERNA'20 and PRERNA'21 virtually.

PRERNA'22 was held offline, after organising online events due to COVID for two consecutive years.
